Class 5

Welcome to Class 5.

Thank you for visiting our class page.

We are ready for an exciting year in Class 5, we are now in Year 2 and the oldest children in Key Stage 1. Our teacher this year is Mr Barber and our teaching assistant is Mrs Wray. During the Autumn Term Mr Scrimshaw will also be helping us. We are especially looking forward to being role models for our younger friends in the infants. Our maths and English topics are going to be fun and challenging, and we are aiming to try and produce our best work in each lesson.

At the end of this year, the children will be doing the national statutory tests in reading, writing and maths: Key Stage One SATs. We find that year after year the children really enjoy them as they are well prepared.

Our aim in Class 5 is to make sure that every child gets the support that they need and that everyone enjoys the different parts of the curriculum. We have created our own class rules and have decided that we are going to try our best this year to make sure everyone in the class is happy.

As we are now the oldest children in Key Stage 1 we are going to be encouraged to complete more of our work independently. We are starting to think for ourselves and remember all of our own things, like our bag and PE kit. We enjoy celebrating achievement in our class. We will be working with parents and carers to recognise our hard work and effort in academic work and spiritual life in school.

Please keep checking our page and newsletters for any further information. This year PE is on a Tuesday morning and a Thursday afternoon.

God bless.

Mr Barber and Mrs Wray

Wonderful things happen in Class 5…

We are children of God…

We celebrate and pray each day. We know that God is always with us and that He is by our side.

We even designed our own ‘Pop Art’ cross during Art Week. We created a picture to show that Jesus is the Light of the World.

We are designers…

We designed and made our own healthy snacks to eat.

We are safe…

We thought about things that worry us and let them float away like a balloon.

We are artists…

We have drawn pictures of ourselves, so we can look back at what we were like at the start of Class 5.

We are writers…

We have already shown how beautiful our handwriting can be. We have written all about Greek Gods and different types of Superheroes.

We are mathematicians…

We have measured different things to see how long they are. Some of us could even make a really good prediction!

We are scientists…

We worked scientifically to observe what happens when you put different things in water. Try it with some skittles…

We are musicians…

We wrote our own song with Joe. You can hear it sung at our KS1 Nativity.
