Our Parish is St. Patricks and we are linked with the parish of Christ the King. Our Priest is Fr. Pat O’Neill. Each Friday, classes take it turn to celebrate Mass with Fr. Pat and the parish.
St.Patricks: Saturday 6.30pm Sunday 10.30 am
Christ the King: Sunday 9:00 am
As a Catholic community, it is important to attend Mass every Sunday. Please make every effort to be part of the Catholic community in Thornaby.
We share many links with our local parish of St.Patrick’s. The parish is very supportive of events in school and we like to get involved in parish events too. We share some time together during:
- Healing Services
- Reconciliation Services
- Summer and Christmas Fetes
- Prayer Services/Rosary
- SVP Groups
- May Procession
- Lenten Hunger Lunches
- Tea and Coffee mornings in school
Fr. Pat O’Neill is from County Tipperary in Ireland. He has been a priest in our diocese for many years and joined us in Thornaby from Leyburn in North Yorkshire. He loves his sports – especially his golf. We thank Fr Pat for his service to our parish and school community and keep him in our prayers.
Celebrating Our Feast
St.Patrick is not only celebrated in Ireland but all around the world and especially in Thornaby. It is always a big day in our parish as we celebrate the catholic heritage and history of Thornaby and say a special thank you to the Catholic families that first settled in Thornaby so that a church and school could be built. The church is always filled with prayers, singing, dancing, shamrock and green on the feast day as the whole community gather together. Here are some photographs of this year’s celebration.
And all were invited back to ours for a cup of tea and some craic!
An Afternoon with Veronica
Veronica Allinson is an old pupil of our school and one of our longest serving parishioners at St. Patrick’s. She is currently living at The Poplars Nursing Home but constantly keeps everybody in school in her thoughts and prayers. Recently, Veronica kindly donated a silver trophy cup to be presented each week to pupils who shows acts of kindness and love to others. We have aptly named the award “The St. Veronica Cup”! Thank you to Charlie and Gracie Robson, who are the first winners of the award, for taking the cup along to show Veronica and spending some time with her. She sends her love to everyone. Thank you and God bless you Veronica!
